Link Opens During Selection

I'm trying to create the site map but sometimes when I select a link on the page during selection mode the website proceeds to open that link and my selection menu goes away. Is there a way to make sure the webpage does not execute the link selection while I'm building the selector?

Hello,
You choose a selector Type = link
you select and check the box : "enable Key events"
then with the mouse you go and point to the "clothing" area. The field should turn in green.
On the keyboard tou type "s"
Then Done selecting
